Rain and thundershowers rocked Dilli Haat minutes before the stage was set for the formal launch and the curtain raiser of the Earth Hour. The launch had invited everyone from Dr. R.K. Pachauri, Director-General TERI and the Chairperson of the Intergovernmnental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), to Mr. J.K. Dadoo, Environment Secretary, Govt. of NCT of Delhi in addition to the host CEO & Secretary General of WWF-India, Mr. Ravi Singh. A series of talks, dance performance etc. led by Shovana Narayan had also been organised.
Intense gusts of wind and heavy rains not only disrupted the programme and the proceedings, it also made people think and realize that Nature cannot be played with and that we will definitely have to show a greater respect to the Planet. Later in the event, even as the rain only got more intense, Dr. R.K. Pachauri and Ravi Singh addressed a small crowd but so much excited of Earth Hour volunteers and enthusiastic citizens who braved the weather to come together for mitigating climate change. “Let this be a message to all of us that Nature is watching”, alerted Dr. Pachauri to the charged up crowed, before the Earth Hour countdown began, and the lights were switched off.
Candles were distributed to everyone and every effort was made by the most keen, to keep them burning and spreading the message. The rest of the show unfolded as was planned, even as the rain was a constant reminder of the actions we now need to take. Even lot of small kids who were watching the programme also very excited to light up the candle and show his support to Earth Hour for an hour.

India shining Vs Bharat Nirman

When I have seen a poster/banners/hoarding in Delhi’s bus shelters about Bharat Nirman campaign started by congress party to keep the view in next coming election. I come off the five years back that BJP started the same campaign that is so called India shining. I remember the things that how congress party came into the government they show that how much money of indian people has been wasted on those Ads. What cost the BJP govt. paid for that campaign? Will congress party is going to same. I mean to say that congress party is also going to loose their govt. If they loose than what the next govt. will do that will be same for congress what they did for BJP. If not than nobody will know that how much money has been spend over these campaigning. Ultimately these are the loosing part of us. I mean to say that that money is our own. So we are the looser. So, who cares about those things? Nobody in today’s India. Just take an example, one of my friends is working for HSBC as financial analyst and he is getting lot of money from that company. He is post graduated from one of the leading university in India i.e. JNU. But he doesn’t bother to take part in election. Because he thinks all politicians are rotten fish. And we have a proverb in Hindi “Ek Sari Hui Machhli sare talab ko ganda kar deti hai”. Here all the fishes are rotten than how you can think that you can purify the pond i.e. Indian political system.

So what we have to do. Do it same one of my friend is doing or cast a vote for better candidate. Other wise someone will come to us and will say if you are not voting than you are sleeping. If we are sleeping than how we can say that someone will do some great work for us. If you are sleeping than nobody will do anything for you. So you have to be know your surrounding well. Nobody born as geniuses take an example the guys of Slum dog Millionaire, who never read anything formally but he knows everything. Because he kept his eye and ear open all the time. So we have to keep our eyes and ears should be open. It mean to say that if you know your surrounding well than you can contributing your society to make it better and better even if you don’t do anything physically, financially as well.

This is not the criticizing the campaign started by BJP or Congress Party. I never personally criticize those things. I think that if someone has been some great work for their people than they have the right to show all his work to the people in a right direction. Than the people can decide that who will be the best candidate for them for next fiver years and they can serve your society better.

So, Please caste your vote for better future.

Switch off your light for one hour - Earth Hour

With what started as a show of solidarity against climate change in Sydney two years back, is now a global movement called Earth Hour. Thousands made a statement by switching their lights off. Just for an hour.

This year, on 28th March, close to a billion people from 930 cities across the world would join this fight. They would turn off the lights of their homes and offices for an hour to tell the world leaders they want something done. Now!

Because they all believe that our only planet is worth saving.

India has committed to join Earth Hour this time. Delhi and Mumbai would be the first to join. The Governments of Delhi and Mumbai are supporting the cause. And so are corporates like- HP, Wipro, HSBC, Tetra Pak, CB Richard Ellis, ITC Welcom Group, Standard Chartered, Nokia, Google, Yes Bank, Intel, PVR Cinemas, The Taj Group, Welcom Heritage, Tata Indicom, Aircel, Canon, Satya Paul, ICICI and Fairwood Consultants.

20,000 people have already signed up on our website and 45,000 students in Delhi have already pledged support.

Climate change is real. It is happening now and it is happening in your city. Get up and fight it. Pledge to save the Earth. Turn out the lights for just one hour. And be a part of the world's biggest movement against climate change.

For Support please sign up now!
