Happiness Forever

Don’t worry, be Happy! What a refreshing thought, indeed! Celebrations everyday! Life can be so joyful if we learn to celebrate even the smallest moments and events. Celebrate when someone says you are looking great or may be because your toddler called you ma for the first time. Always remember that it is the small acts of day-to- day life that count. And more important, that happiness is not as elusive as you think.
This year give wings to your imagination. Do the things you have always wanted to even if it means you must go out of your way to convince friends and family that you are choosing to settle for the odd and the unconventional. Remember, it’s not about what others think of you, but what you think of yourself. If it makes you happy, it’s gotta be right. Let every single moment be a celebration. Attract happiness do not allow anything dampen your spirits, it is really a matter of how you choose to be staying happy needs the determination to seek and chase it until it surrenders itself to you. After all, happiness is a state of mind where you can be what you care without bothering about what others think of you. All you need to do is change your outlook towards life.
Happiness is about being content in your personal and professional relationships. The best way is to get realistic targets for yourself and try your best variables. We become vulnerable to unhappiness. Smaller expectations make you happy. Ambitions should be set keeping in mind your ability. Be flexible and lower your expectations of necessary. You must be able to choose happiness over everything else. But how do we choose happiness? More than happiness. It’s the source of happiness which is important. Also you have to be able to distinguish between happiness and pleasure. Short-term gains often lead to long term unhappiness. We have to the clear about what we won’t.
It’s of to you to remain happy or stay in a state of gloom. The new year is the perfect time to tell yourself that you will be happy. It happiness forgets you a letter bit, never completely forget about it.

Are you a father?

You are a father. It looks like such a simple sentence. But your new role is actually profound; one you are a father, you can never be “not-a-father” anymore. By becoming a father, you’ve embarked on an amazing and fulfilling journey, powerful from the moment of birth.
The day you bring your newborn or your adopted back home with you is exciting and overwhelming. It’s a cliché, but your life will never be the same. Even if this is not your first child, he is different from your others and you are different than you were before. Heck, my identical twins were born 14 minutes apart; they are markedly different from one other, as is my relationship with each of them. Each father-child bond is unique and continually evolving.

The child is not the only one being influenced here. As James Joyce once said, “People talk of my influence on my daughter, but what about her influence on me?”

No one has ever been so completely dependent on you as this baby. It feels wonderful to be so needed, but also a bit scary. Fortunately, you have more resources at your disposal than you may think (for example, Dsds & Daughters).

That said, I think every prospective parent should watch the movie Parenthood before getting pregnant. The film could easily be called Fatherhood, since the main character is a dad. That movie makes clear some central truths about fathering:

- It is like a roller coaster.
- You can’t know for sure how your actions will affect your children.
- You can guarantee that your actions do affect your children.

My favorite line from Parenthood is when Keanu Reeves’ character Tod says, “You need a license to buy a dog or drive a car. Hell, you even need a license to catch a fish. But they’ll let any [expletive deleted] a**hole be a father.”

With a bit of earthy humor (the kind guys like, right?), Tod explains the biggest dilemma a new father faces: No one trained me for this job. The child doesn’t come with an operator’s manual, plug-and-play attachments, or downloadable upgrades.

Despite this, dads today have more freedom than ever to take “nontraditional” approaches to fathering. Many men take time away from their careers to stay home with the baby while their partners return to the workplace. Other men work part-time or telecommute so they can commune with baby every possible moment. Some men even teach Head Start and early childhood parent education classes!

In other words, you don’t have to father the same way your father or grandfather did. You can be your own kind of Dad. That opportunity is liberating and exciting, but can also be disconcerting. After all, it’s harder to find examples to follow when you’re doing things in a new way.

But did you know that nature provides tools that you may not yet be conscious of? For example, from the moment of birth, you and your baby can instinctively communicate with each other, even though it’ll be a year or more before she uses words.

A pioneering pediatric psychologist, the late Dr. Lee Salk (brother of Jonas, creator of the polio vaccine) urged parents to trust this kind of natural connection. As a new dad, I took comfort and confidence from Salk’s What Every Child Would Like His Parents to Know (Warner, 1973-now out-of-print).

In a refreshing departure for a parenting author, Salk argued that we shouldn’t worry so much about what the latest parenting book says. His book wisely encouraged me to trust my heart along with my baby’s sounds and body. If I “tuned in” to my deep fathering instincts, and the signals my infants “broadcast,” I’d have most of what I’d need to be a good father. As fathering expert Will Glennon says, “The key is to father from the heart.”

Spiritual Revolution

These references are emphatically worth noting and initiating Socratic dialogue upon, as opposed to an unfruitful focus on apocalyptic scenarios. We begin by initiating the next Holisitic Quantum Relativity -- HQR* -- Socratic dialogue on Buddhism, the Baha'i faith and The Golden Age of the Unity of Humankind and Peace with the overarching Grace of The Great Spiritual Masters!
HH Master Kirpal has said, "Truth is eternal, and all Masters taught the same old Truth with one opinion, but their commandments differed according to the prevalent conditions of their time." Many people could not understand the deep meaning when His Holiness said, ‘Mind, that the Golden Age is approaching!’

Reflections on Buddhism and the Bahá’í faith

The Spiritual Master, Gautama Buddha, was born a prince in Northern India around the year 563 BC. Buddha means "Enlightened" and he claimed to be one of a series of Buddhas -- Enlightened Ones -- revealing teachings to humanity over many thousands of years.

The Bahá’í Faith was founded by the Great Bahá’u’lláh, Who was born into a noble family in Persia in 1817. Bahá’ís recognise Him as one of the successive Buddhas, the “Buddha of Universal Fellowship”, for whom humankind had been waiting at the time.

Gautama Buddha promised repeatedly that after a long period of time, another Buddha would arise:

“I am not the first Buddha Who came upon this earth, nor shall I be the last. In due time, another Buddha will arise in the world, a Holy One, a supremely enlightened One… knowing the universe, an Incomparable Leader of men… He will reveal to you the same eternal truths which I have taught you. He will preach to you His faith, glorious in its origin, glorious at the climax and glorious at the goal… He will proclaim a spiritual life, wholly perfect and pure, such as I now proclaim. His disciples will number many thousands, while mine number many hundreds.” (Digha-nikaya, IV.26)

When asked how Buddhists would recognize this new Teacher, the Buddha replied, “He will be known as Maitreya, which means He Whose name is kindness.” The other title for the Buddha-to-come was Amitabha (or Amida), which means “The Glory of the Infinite”. The blessed child born in Persia in 1817 was given the name Husayn, which means “kindness”, but later adopted the spiritual title of Bahá’u’lláh, (“The Glory of God” or “The Glory of the Infinite.”)

The Unknowable Essence

Speaking of the Creator, the “First Cause”, the Buddhist Scriptures say, “O disciples, there is a non-born, a non-produced, non-created and a non-formed. If there were not, O disciples, a non-born, a non-produced, a non-created and a non-formed, there would be no issue for the born, the produced, the created, the formed.” (Udana, v.81)

Bahá'u'lláh described the Supra Universal Consciousness in this way, “The birds of men's hearts, however high they soar, can never hope to attain the heights of His unknowable Essence. It is He Who hath called into being the whole of creation, Who hath caused every created thing to spring forth at His behest… Far be it from His glory that human pen or tongue should hint at His mystery, or that human heart conceive His Essence. ” In one of His books, ‘The Seven Valleys’, Bahá'u'lláh described the seventh valley as “true poverty and absolute nothingness”. This, the ultimate goal of life, is explained as “ the dying from self and the living in God.”

The Basic Truths

Although the basic truths taught by Gautama Buddha remain the same, they are expanded and made more explicit, in accordance with the needs of this age. The Buddha taught The Middle Way, between materialism and extreme asceticism. This approached is reaffirmed by Bahá’u’lláh: “In all matters moderation is desirable. If a thing is carried to excess, it will prove a source of evil.”

The Buddha presented the Noble Eightfold Path as a guide to living. As projected by the Buddha, Bahá’u’lláh taught similar noble ideals. Below are some examples of Bahá'u'lláh’s teachings under the individual headings of the Buddha's Eightfold Path:

Right Understanding

“Man should know his own self, and know those things which lead to loftiness or baseness, to shame or to honour…”

Right Resolve

“He is my true follower who, if he come to a valley of pure gold will pass straight through it aloof as a cloud, and will neither turn back, nor pause.”

Right Speech

"Verily I say, the tongue is for mentioning what is good, defile it not with unseemly talk.”

Right Conduct

“They that follow their lusts and corrupt inclinations have erred and dissipated their efforts. They indeed are of the lost.”

Right Livelihood

“It is made incumbent on every one of you to engage in some one occupation, such as arts, trades, and the like. We have made this – your occupation – identical with the worship of God, the True One.”

Right Effort

“All efforts and exertion put forth by man from the fullness of his heart is worship, if it is prompted by the highest motives and the will to do service to humanity.”

Right Mindfulness

“The station of absolute self-surrender transcendeth, and will ever remain exalted above every other station.”

Right Contemplation

“The meditative faculty is akin to the mirror; if you put it before earthly objects it will reflect them… But if you turn the mirror of your spirits heavenwards… the virtues of the Kingdom will be obtained.”

Progressive Revelation

Bahá’u’lláh taught the idea of progressive revelation. The Founders of the faiths of the world, in every age, reaffirm the universal spiritual truths, but also reveal new teachings appropriate to the conditions of the time:

"Every Prophet Whom the almighty and peerless Creator hath purposed to send to the peoples of the earth hath been entrusted with a Message, and charged to act in a manner that would best meet the requirements of the age in which He appeared." Bahá’ís believe that the new Teaching (Dharma) specifically for this age is the recognition of the oneness of religion and the oneness of humankind.

Bahá’u’lláh introduced teachings designed to bring about this universal fellowship. These teachings include:

· Equality of women with men
. Independent investigation of truth
. Elimination of poverty
. Relinquishing prejudice of all kinds
. A world federation
. A society based on spiritual values

These teachings will bring about the Golden Age of humankind, prophesied by the Buddha as “the world system of the Lord Amitabha”, the ‘Pure Land’.

The Bahá'í writings describe it like this:

“The gift of God to this enlightened age is the knowledge of the oneness of humankind and of the fundamental oneness of faith. War shall cease between nations, and by the will of God the Most Great Peace shall come; the world will be seen as a new world, and all men will live as brothers.”

Happiness about to be pure

Beyond the high speeds of those imaginary particles we describe and much further than the field of infinite potentiality of the new verse, there lies a most shy, omnipotent, innocent and inexplicable joy.
Let’s make believe, like little girls playing at serving invisible tea that we are hearing this music unheard, and dance, just dance

Bring along the so-called sins and other deviations that spice up the rhythm yes why not, also the sac of virtues and credits you can spare.

Let’s dare to be absolutely naked in this purity so insane that it can only be seen in moments of silence and then forgotten, like sacred oaths unspoken.

Pour the cups of non existing tea and share with each other this instant our little girl hands so poised and elegant as they pour and serve, the inebriating nothing tea that lies hidden, in the shyness of the explosion.

Beyond the accelerated particles of our imagination, way in there, impossibly near , hiding behind what has never been lost. Collapsing in intervals so fine you can call them divine and yet it is all beyond words and languages.

Calculation for Success

All of us appear to measure success differently. I asked family and friends and they wondered if success is linked to:
. Our level of satisfaction

. Our level of happiness and consciousness of what we are and what we have

. Having security in regard to lifestyle -- shelter, food, clothing and leisure -- both now and in the future

. Fulfilling our creative energy and deeper purpose

. Our optimistic attitude and positive energy, which attracts more of the same, which we call "good luck"

. Remembering where we have come from, what we feel we are, and where we are headed

. Capability to listen, to learn and to love

. Capability to influence and motivate others around us

. The sharing of inner feelings with family and/or friends

. Having trusted companions

. Knowing what we have achieved and what we are likely to achieve on the basis of our present trajectory

. Our perception of our relative position

. Being renowned amongst our peers for our domain specific expertise

. Role(s) and responsibilities

. Societal standing and display of status symbols

. Feeling liberated

Also, we may prioritise the different threads which make up success in our own way. What are your measures of success? Do they make you happy?

If success, satisfaction and happiness are linked, why does our modern society make success reductive and measure it often in terms of excessive accumulation of money, power and glory, which may not deliver satisfaction or happiness?

Listen your Inner Guide

Each of us has had this experience: we knew something was going to turn out a certain way, but we didn’t listen to that gut instinct and it cost us. Maybe we missed out on an opportunity, or we had to dig ourselves out of some kind of mess. But we’ve all done it.
The other day I caught myself ignoring my inner guidance. I didn’t quite catch it as early as I’d have liked, however. I spent an entire weekend working on a series of articles for a website. Somewhere inside I just knew it wasn’t the right kind of content. But I didn’t want to admit to myself that I was wasting my own time, so I kept trying to tweak the wording to force what I was writing into a better fit. I probably got a third of the way through what I was trying to accomplish when I couldn’t take it any more. I stopped myself (not easy!) and sent in what I had already written to the editor to check that I was going in the right direction. When I got his reply I “hid” from it for a little while, not wanting to even open it, because I already knew what it was going to say.

It was a frustrating little tug-o-war with my ego, but it was progress. At least I stopped, right? And it helped me to get more clarity on where I should have been going in the first place. After the fact, I do feel good about the experience. But, boy! It was excruciating witnessing myself struggle through it.

So who else is making progress out there? Are you someone who enjoys the learning process of self-help concepts and techniques, but who then looses steam when it comes to practicing what you’ve learned? It’s always fun to get a new book or DVD, or to attend a seminar and spend time thinking and talking about all of this stuff. But putting it into practice is a whole different ball game.

Emotional distress due to social networking websites

There is a boom of social networking websites on Internet .The newer social networking sites like orkut , wayn, myspace not only helps in building social contacts but also gives other privileges like earning through blogging & uploading pictures .Majority of people who surf Internet frequently are members of at least one social networking websites either for fun , or to build contacts or for promotion of their own on line business or for earning through blogging . When it comes to earning through blogging , people spend several hours in a day to update their blogs & than on reading & commenting other blogger work. As a result of which blogger get very much acquainted with each others style of writing , thoughts ,likes , dislikes ,profession & other personal aspects & at times blogger get attracted to opposite sex blogger. Once this happens the blogger mind gets completely diverted from blogging . He or she starts giving very sensitive comments on the articles of the blogger with whom he or she has got attracted .The comments are very frequent & personalized a result both the blogger get attracted to one another. Recently I came across few cases where in male blogger first approached female blogger by giving frequent & touching comments on their articles & than they exchanged their contact numbers & email IDs.Later the male blogger shared their past with the female blogger & expressed how lonely they are without true love in their lives & eventually proposed the females saying that they can only bring the lost love back into their lives . Women feel very sorry for the past of males & they started loving the them thinking that the males are very honest & will be carrying husbands if they tie knot with them. For few months these couples continued their interaction through blogging & chatting & meanwhile they committed for marriage , without any face to face meetings. Since it was not a true love & was near attraction the male blogger got attracted to another female blogger & thereby they lost interest in the previous female blogger & the commitments which they made to them became meaningless. As usual the females got very upset , they lost hope , trust & health & now these woman do not believe in the Institution of marriage they do not want to get married for ever & are not ready to forget them although their dream homes are scattered totally According to me it is not wrong to love somebody & to express love for someone nor I say it is the folly of men alone .Also there might be people who got true life partners through social networking sites but I feel one should not commit for marriage without family consent & face to face interaction with the person whom you met through social networking websites.

Morning Wish

This ineffable feeling of inexplicable joy
seeps in through inner doors so secret.

It opens hidden alcoves on occasion, unwarranted.
No special mantras can take you there, or efforts in prayer,

oh well it can coincide, if you do that all the time,
that the doors open, as if a password was said,
but in reality it was just grace.
Flowing to you without conditions, like true love,
warming everything in a glow of light sublime.

Making hearts melt down and smiles flourish in stern faces,
bodies acquire a special rhythm, that prompts embraces.

Suddenly, the magic of Antares and the her legions of sister stars,
appears in the dark of night, like a princess dressed for her wedding.

What prompts that corner breeze to whirlwind of all sudden inside?
What can command the spontaneity of the divine?

No strains, no mantras, no discipline, no austerities, no wealth,
no prayer, no chants, no magic potions, no secret scrolls.
No formulas can take you there, where the sun rises in miniature so bright
that its cool incandescence outshines daylight

This laughter of spirit is so provocative and free,
that one can only jump in the air if the body is still fit,
or sport a brightness in the eyes or a tenderness in the skin,
to caress whomever comes across as it springs.

It is merry, and happy, sublime, just perfect, its rhyme
is the engine that moves happiness, the summa cum of love.
Yes that little candle, that swift breeze, that primordial song
which is found sometimes, somehow, somewhere
so unexpectedly inside of you and me

So let’s dance with it and etch that moment somewhere in our memories,
as the dust of our kaleidoscopical actions and thoughts collects,
yes, as the debris of our point of vantage, accumulates, as if ours,
and asphyxiates our soul.

Keep it in our memories, icons and traditions,
till one day, suddenly and in total serendipity
we will find ourselves again bowing down
in that secret alcove, pulled in by spontaneous combustion.
Our hearts on fire, our feet tap dancing the only song
that can never be predicted or asked for, or bought forth.

Let’s share the glow in our eyes then, and caress the tender in others,
who in that moment of solace are nothing but one with us.
Let’s rejoice in that breeze of corners sacred that reminds us
of our best inner moments and wipes out our prides and laments.

Yes, let’s savor the kiss of the Beloved as it catches us unaware, and makes us be.
It is an old story, a romance of spontaneity, which love only can see.
No coercion is possible, no bribery enabled, no route, no discipline
nothing can harness this whimsical graciousness,
that makes everything such a delight.

The flavors of the Beloved once-in-a-while- kisses, are intoxicating
and you really can never can know when they will be in your lips

So may the grace fall upon you one of these days again
and may you remember never to forget
that ineffable feeling of inexplicable joy..

The Original Sin

Fear of intermittency naturally caught up with mind. It is an everyday thing. I looked out, introspected, and interacted. That vacuum of contrasting content was spilled all over. It felt like a real mess. I decided to pick-up everything, to reorder each object neatly, in harmony.

Of course it was too broad and complex a task for limitation, so I summoned imagination, and with her on board, time became perpetual.

Everything had to be collected, counted, dusted, folded and stored in phases, as the stage was cleared and the slate cleaned. I started with sand and dust, as they are such an endless problem for sweepers, and bare feet. It took me several eons to pick every grain, classify them in terms of shape, weight and composition, store them in airtight compartments and shelve them. But the job was done. Now I walked all over, and there no longer was sand on my feet ,and my floors were oh so clean.

Then I went after bigger objects, rocks, things loose, that gave an unkempt look to scenery, warehouses of them were filled up, as I removed all debris from sight. Then came the creatures. Microorganisms and insects alone were a formidable chore, they reproduced so fast, that when I turned my back to close the containing compartment doors, there were many, many more. But finally intent prevailed and I had isolated all living creatures except people. So I still had to do people, heavenly bodies and points of view.

Points of view and people come together of course, but I decided to separate them for storage purposes to avoid interference and combustion while on that state of refurbishing. So painstakingly I plucked them off from resistant minds, including mine, and folded them neatly and separately, as argumentation in a situation of suspension can be disturbing.

Eviscerated of point of views, all human individualities including my own, peacefully and orderly collected themselves in the depository-nursery of in-between life.

Last task were the stars. –this was also hard. They had to be plucked one by one from the space mantle, gently placed in dark velvet sacks, and stored in a dark room, so they could rest their light for a while. It took me various eons and then some more, to collect them all, from all time zones, from those birthing after the big bang, to the newer generations. I think it was Alpha Centauri , the last one that I plucked, before restoring absolute darkness to space. Then I grabbed the space blanket by its expanded extremes of curvature and shook it hard to remove cosmic dust, dark matter, and all other particles of disarray.

An inconceivable, indescribable anything, there was no dark no light, there were no conflicting points of view between me and a you, no lover-beloved qualms or ecstasies, no noise no song, and even silence was beyond itself.

There was I alone again, forever like ever. Lastly ,I folded imagination and her time-space portfolio, with all the vaults containing everything, and I put it in my nowhere pocket as only nothing was there.

In no-time, I exploded again, imagination could not be contained, being my own whim. Everything was back in its exact place, as I realized that it had been all perfectly arranged, that sweepers needed sand as much as little girls that write their names on the beach, that conflicting points of view, give peace a chance to be experienced, that selfishness is the field where love grows selflessness, that darkness and light are an inseparable couple, that make the dances of day and night, of depression and illumination, that paradise is found continuously through the interplay of the One Beloved with its many lovers in the contrasting struggles of life.

Imagination could not be contained, not even by Me, as it is My original whim, My original sin, this is what makes Me be, this bliss of Infinity. It is the engine of contrasts and chaos, that generates the exhaustion of the turning wheel, and engenders the yearning to love, that enables the lover and beloved games, that makes Me consciously eternally.

24 Getting rid of a man without hurting his masculinity is a problem "Get out" and "I never want to see you again" might sound like a challenge If you want to get rid of a man, I suggest saying, "I love you.. I want to marry you.. I want to have your children." Sometimes they leave skid marks.

25 Men are self-confident because they grow up identifying with super- heroes. Women have bad self-images because they grow up identifying with Barbie.

26 Male menopause is a lot more fun than female menopause With female menopause you gain weight and get hot flashes. Male menopause - you get to flirt with young girls and drive motorcycles.

27 Men forget everything; women remember everything. That`s why men need instant replays in sports They`ve already forgotten what happened.

The Song of the Sannyasin, Poem By Swami Vivekananda

(This short poem is an excerpt from 'The Song of the Sannyasin' by Swamiji)

Have thou no home, What home can hold thee, friend?
The sky thy roof, the grass thy bed; and food
What chance may bring, well-cooked or ill, judge not.
No food or drink can taint that noble Self
Which knows Itself. Like rolling river free
Thou ever be, Sannyasin bold!
say -"OM TAT SAT OM".

A Blessing, Poem By Swami Vivekananda

(The following poetry is a selection from works of Swami Vivekananda and was written to Miss Alberta Sturges from Perrors Guirec, Brittany, France , on September 22, 1900.)

The Mother's heart, the hero's will,
The softest flowers' sweetest feel;
The charm and force that ever sway
The altar-fire's flaming play;
The strength that leads, in love obeys;
Far-reaching dreams, and patient ways,
Eternal faith in Self, in all,
The light Divine in great, in small;
All these and more than I could see,
Today may "Mother" grant to thee!

Thou Blessed Dream, Poem By Swami Vivekananda

If things go ill or well-
If joy rebounding spreads the face,
Or sea of sorrows swells-
It is a dream, a play.

A play- we each have a part
Each one to weep or laugh as may;
Each one his dress to don-
Alternate shine or rain.

Thou dream, O blessed dream!
Spread far and near thy veil of haze,
Tone down the lines so sharp,
Make smooth what roughness seems.
No magic but in thee!

Thy touch makes desert bloom to life,
Harsh thunder, sweetest song,
Fell death, the sweet release.

To The Fourth Of July, Poem By Swami Vivekananda

(From The Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda, Vol5 Page 440. It is well known that Swami Vivekananda left his body on the 4th of July,1902. On the 4th of July 1898, he was travalling with some American disciples in Kashmir, and as part of a domestic conspiracy for the celebration of the day- the anniversary of the American Declaration of Independence- he prepared the following poem, to be read aloud at the early breakfast.)

Behold, the dark clouds melt away,
That gathered thick at night, and hung
So like a gloomy pall above the earth!

Before thy magic touch,the worldAwakes.
The birds in chorus sing.
The flowers raise their star-like crowns-
Dew-set, and wave thee welcome fair.

The lakes are opening wide in love
Their hundred thousand lotus-eyes
To welcome thee, with all their depth.

All hail to thee, thou Lord of Light!
A welcome new to thee, today,
O sun! today thou sheddest LIBERTY!
Bethink thee how the world did wait,
And search for thee, through time and clime.

Some gave up home and love of friends,
And went in quest of thee, self banished,
Through dreary oceans, through primeval forests,
Each step a struggle for their life or death;

Then came the day when work bore fruit,
And worship, love, and sacrifice,
Fulfilled, accepted, and complete.
Then thou, propitious, rose to shed
The light of FREEDOM on mankind.
Move on, O Lord, on thy resistless path!
Till thy high noon o'erspreads the world.
Till every land reflects thy light,
Till men and women, with uplifted head,
Behold their shackles broken, and
Know, in springing joy, their life renewed

Peace, Poem By Swami Vivekananda

(The following poetry is a selection from works of Swami Vivekananda and was composed by him at Ridgely Manor, New York, on 21st September, 1899.)

Behold, it comes in might,
The power that is not power,
The light that is in darkness,
The shade in dazzling light.

It is joy that never spoke,
And grief unfelt, profound,
Immortal life unlived,
Eternal death unmourned.

It is not joy nor sorrow,
But that which is between,
It is not night nor morrow,
But that which joins them in.

Vivekananda Unpublished Letter 2

Bombay The 22nd May [18]93
Your Highness,
Leaving Khetri there happened nothing particular to relate except that I had every comfort on the way, broke journey at Kharari and then [went] to Nariad [Nadiad]. Haridas Bhai was as usual very kind to me and we had many and many a talk about your Highness, so much so that he was really very anxious to see you and intends paying his respects to your Highness in his coming winter tour to the north. And I dare say your Highness would also be very much pleased to see this old man of great experience who was for twenty-five years the mentor of Kathiawad. Withal he is the only remnant of the old school of very conservative politicians. He is a man who is thoroughly able to organize and put to perfect order an existing machinery; but he would be the last man to move a step further.
At Bombay I went to see my friend Ramdas, Barrister-at-Law. He is rather a sentimental gentleman and was so much impressed with your Highness’ character that he told me that had it not been midsummer he would rather fly to see such a prince.
His father intends going to Chicago on the 31st; if so, we would go together for company. Today I go to buy some steel trunks etc., and am only waiting for the Madras money to come in. Although I wired to them from Jeypore, they were rather suspicious and waited for my further communications and I have again wired them and written too.
On our way we had the company of Mr.Ramnath, the charan headmaster of the Jeypore noble’s school. He and I had a bout on my first coming out of Khetri years ago, about vegetarianism. He had in the meantime got hold of some American writers and pounced upon me with his arguments from them. His author, he said, has proved to his satisfaction that the human digestive organs including the teeth are exactly like those of the cow. Therefore, man is designed by nature to be a vegetarian animal. He is a very good and nice gentleman and I did not want to disturb his confidence in the American hobbyist but one thing was on the tip of my tongue—If our digestive apparatus is exactly like that of a cow—we ought and must be able to eat and digest grass. In that case poor Indians are fools to die of starvation in famine times while their natural food, grass, is so abundant, and your Highness’ servants are fools to serve you while they have only to get up the nearest hillock and get a bellyful of grass instead of undergoing all the trouble of serving others!!! Grand American discovery indeed!!! Only I hope the holy dungs of such human cows may become of great use to the wonderful American author and his Indian disciple. Amen. So much for the cow-human theory.
Do not find anything more to advertize to your Highness, so, beg leave to stop here.
May the giver of all good bestow his choicest blessings on you and yours, I remain,
Yours in the Lord,
Vivekananda

Quest For God, Poem By Swami Vivekananda

(This was part of the letter written by Swamiji on Sep. 4, 1893 to Prof. J.H. Wright of Boston who introduced Swami Vivekananda in the Parliament of Rligions.)
O'ver hill and dale and mountain range,
In temple, church, and mosque,
In Vedas, Bible, Al KoranI had searched for
Thee in vain.
Like a child in the wildest forest lost
I have cried and cried alone,
"Where art Thou gone, my God, my love?
The echo answered, "gone."
And days and nights and years then passed
A fire was in the brain,
I knew not when day changed in night
The heart seemed rent in twain.
I laid me down on Ganges's shore,
Exposed to sun and rain;
With burning tears I laid the dust
And wailed with waters' roar.
I called on all the holy names
Of every clime and creed.
"Show me the way, in mercy, ye
Great ones who have reached the goal."
Years then passed in bitter cry,
Eacch moment seemed an age,
Till one day midst my cries and groans
Some one seemed calling me.
A gentle soft and soothing voice
That said 'my son' 'my son',
That seemed to thrill in unison
With all the chords of my soul.
I stood on my feet and tried to find
The place the voice came from;
I searched and searched and turned to see
Round me, before, behind,
Again, again it seemed to speak
The voice divine to me.
In rapture all my soul was hushed,
Entranced, enthralled in bliss.
A flash illumined all my soul;
The heart of my heart opened wide.
O joy, O bliss, what do I find!
My love, my love you are here
And you are here, my love, my all!
And I was searching thee -
From all eternity you were there
Enthroned in majesty!
From that day forth, wherever I roam,
I feel Him standing by
O'ver hill and dale, high mount and vale,
Far far away and high.
The moon's soft light, the stars so bright,
The glorious orb of day,
He shines in them; His beauty - might -
Reflected lights are they.
The majestic morn, the melting eve,
Teh boundless billowing sea,
In nature's beauty, songs of birds,
I see through them - it is He.
When dire calamity seizes me,
The heart seems weak and faint,
All natures seems to crush me down,
With laws that enver bend.
Meseems I hear Thee whispering sweet
My love, "I am near", "I am near".
My heart gets strong. With thee, my love,
A thousand deaths no fear.
Thou speakest in the mother's lay
Thous shuts the babies eye,
When innocent children laugh and play,
I see Thee standing by.
When holy friendship shakes the hand,
He stands between them too;
He pours the nectar in mother's kiss
And the baby's sweet "mama".
Thou wert my God with prophets old,
All creeds do come from Thee,
The Vedas, Bible, and Koran bold
Sing Thee in Harmony.
"Thou art," Thou art" the Soul of souls
In the rushing stream of life.
"Om tat sat om."
Thou art my God,
My love, I am thine, I am thine.

15 Laws of Life, By Swami Vivekananda

What You Need to Keep in Mind
1. Love Is The Law Of Life: All love is expansion, all selfishness is contraction. Love is therefore the only law of life. He who loves lives, he who is selfish is dying. Therefore, love for love's sake, because it is law of life, just as you breathe to live.
2. It's Your Outlook That Matters: It is our own mental attitude, which makes the world what it is for us. Our thoughts make things beautiful, our thoughts make things ugly. The whole world is in our own minds. Learn to see things in the proper light.
3. Life is Beautiful: First, believe in this world - that there is meaning behind everything. Everything in the world is good, is holy and beautiful. If you see something evil, think that you do not understand it in the right light. Throw the burden on yourselves!
4. It's The Way You Feel: Feel like Christ and you will be a Christ; feel like Buddha and you will be a Buddha. It is feeling that is the life, the strength, the vitality, without which no amount of intellectual activity can reach God.
5. Set Yourself Free: The moment I have realised God sitting in the temple of every human body, the moment I stand in reverence before every human being and see God in him - that moment I am free from bondage, everything that binds vanishes, and I am free.
6. Don't Play The Blame Game: Condemn none: if you can stretch out a helping hand, do so. If you cannot, fold your hands, bless your brothers, and let them go their own way.
7. Help Others: If money helps a man to do good to others, it is of some value; but if not, it is simply a mass of evil, and the sooner it is got rid of, the better.
8. Uphold Your Ideals: Our duty is to encourage every one in his struggle to live up to his own highest idea, and strive at the same time to make the ideal as near as possible to the Truth.
9. Listen To Your Soul: You have to grow from the inside out. None can teach you, none can make you spiritual. There is no other teacher but your own soul.
10. Be Yourself: The greatest religion is to be true to your own nature. Have faith in yourselves!
11. Nothing Is Impossible: Never think there is anything impossible for the soul. It is the greatest heresy to think so. If there is sin, this is the only sin - to say that you are weak, or others are weak.
12. You Have The Power: All the powers in the universe are already ours. It is we who have put our hands before our eyes and cry that it is dark.
13. Learn Everyday: The goal of mankind is knowledge... now this knowledge is inherent in man. No knowledge comes from outside: it is all inside. What we say a man 'knows', should, in strict psychological language, be what he 'discovers' or 'unveils'; what man 'learns' is really what he discovers by taking the cover off his own soul, which is a mine of infinite knowledge.
14. Be Truthful: Everything can be sacrificed for truth, but truth cannot be sacrificed for anything.
15. Think Different: All differences in this world are of degree, and not of kind, because oneness is the secret of everything.
